Free WP Themes
If you do not have some money to spend, then your next bet is obviously to get a free theme. But wait, don’t just settle for any free theme you like. Check out the following parameters if you decide to stick with a Free Theme.
-
Only settle for a popular free theme, which preferably has a forum support and the author is keen on answering to the bugs reported by the implementers
-
The theme must be well documented, widget ready, and should have good color combination (no funky or strange colors that looks childish on your blog)
-
Finally, to gain maximum benefit, try to edit the free theme to your custom needs. It may be as simple as changing the background color, link color, background image, adding a logo etc.

Options WP Theme
Smartblogtips uses Options Wordpress Theme by Justin for this site at the moment (as of April 2008). I can personally vouch for it to be a great free theme. I have used it and been using it in a couple of more sites which I own.
The theme is well supported by an active community forum, excellent documentation and the theme author promptly resolve your queries.
